I would just like to tell you a story of hardship. When you’re at the end of the line and think nothing else can go wrong, pow! You get hit again. You feel alone and doubtful that you will get through.
This recession has hit everyone, rich and poor, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, God and prayers are always there for us. They send us people and places, such as Kings Daughters Hospital, who saved my husband this past June, and the Hospitality House made me feel like family, fed me and gave me a room so I could rest. To these wonderful people I would like to give my sincere gratitude. And to George and Jason, who went above and beyond. They all truly cared.
We came home and St. Vincent Mission, Sister Kathleen and Elmer and the best group of kids I’ve ever known from all over, mostly western Kentucky, got together and helped with home repairs and built a deck and ramp to help my husband get in and out of our home. There are too many names to mention, but Nancy and Amanda were guiding this group of wonderful young people.
Also I would like to acknowledge Delmar and Deara Holbrook and the Middle Creek Fire Department, Barry Belinger and his son and crew, who provided me with clean water for my cistern. They also have a Women’s Auxiliary Club, run by Mary Belinger. They also work with Clinton Lafferty, who runs the food bank. To all these wonderful people, I would like to give my most sincere thank you for being a good neighbor, good friend and for being our guardian angel when we needed you.
I only have one request of our community. If you want to be an angel or help in some way with cash, food or volunteer for any of these organizations, please, please do so. So many people depend on them besides myself. But they cannot do it alone. They ask no questions and will help anyone they can.
Please help if you want to do something special this year to help our community. Help these organizations, or one of your choice. These are all very special groups of people and deserve a sincere thank you. I love all and may God continue to bless them so they can continue His work. No words can say thank you enough. I pray everyone is well. And together, we can all get through the hard times.
Anyone who needs any kind of help can call these people and they will help.
I would like to thank The Floyd County Times for allowing me to say what I want to say.
