PAINTSVILLE — Attorney General Jack Conway announced Monday the indictment of a Staffordsville man, following an investigation by the Attorney General’s Cybercrimes Unit.
A Rowan County grand jury indicted 21-year-old Eric LeMaster, a former Morehead State University student, on Feb. 17, on one count of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and one count of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.
A search warrant was executed Jan. 31 at LeMaster’s residence at Morehead State, with assistance from campus police. LeMaster turned himself over to police on Feb. 24. He was released from the Rowan County Detention Center after posting bail.
The charges against LeMaster are the result of an undercover investigation that began Jan. 23 by General Conway’s Cybercrimes Unit. Prosecution of this case is being handled by the office of Keen Johnson, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 21st Judicial Circuit.
Since its creation in June 2008, General Conway’s Cybercrimes Unit has launched more than 230 child pornography investigations and seized more than 300,000 child pornographic images and videos from the Internet. The unit is also a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

A charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
