PRESTONSBURG – A local woman was recently selected to help promote the 2010 Alltech FEI Equestrian Games in her region.

Jen Crisp, of Prestonsburg, was named along with nine others throughout the state in September. Crisp and the others were selected by Alltech to represent the games, the company and the company’s related initiatives such as the Alltech Fortnight Festival.

“These 10 men and women were identified by Alltech as individuals who would represent Alltech well in their hometowns and surrounding communities,” said Dr. Pearse Lyons, Alltech president and founder.

Crisp says she has a passion for the preservation of the Appalachian culture and recently started pursing a degree in Appalachian studies at Morehead State University.

Over the course of the next year Crisp will work to broaden Alltech’s reach in across the state by visiting schools, clubs, civic organizations, churches and festivals to garner attention to both the equestrian games and the Alltech Festival.

The 10 members, including Crisp, are spread throughout the state, representing each congressional district.

Crisp is a member of the Kentucky Association of Secondary and College Admissions Counselors, the Big Sandy Area P-16 Council and the MSU at Prestonsburg Advisory Board, among others.
