Rebels rout Piarist for district/conference win

EASTERN - Allen Central returned to the win column on Friday night, defeating visiting 58th District/Floyd County Conference foe Piarist School 69-45 at J.E. Campbell Arena.

Allen Central won for the second time in three outings, improving to 4-11.

With the loss, Piarist dropped to 3-10.

Senior Josh Wiley and junior Cameron Handshoe led Allen Central with 19 points apiece.

Allen Central had 10 different scorers in the district/conference contest.

Joining Wiley and Hamilton in double figures, Dillon Lawson added 11 points for the Rebels.

Allen Central controlled the contest, outscoring Piarist 12-8 in the opening quarter and using a 25-17 run in the second period to push its lead out to double digits prior to intermission.

Finishing strong, Allen Central outscored Piarist 17-1 in the fourth quarter.

Devan Horn, Mason Nelson and Brian Handshoe chipped in four points apiece for the Rebels.

Jarred Hamilton, Jordan Patton, Seth Hall and Cameron Blevins rounded out the Allen Central scoring with two points each.

Tyler Stumbo was the only Piarist scorer to reach double figures. Stumbo paced Piarist with 12 points.

John Gullett and Subhash Gutti both just missed double figures, finishing with nine points apiece.

Galvin Greene scored six points, Michael Williams tossed in five and Ben Dennison added four in Piarist’s loss.

In the girls’ game between the two 58th District/Floyd County Conference foes, Allen Central doubled up Piarist 74-37.
