PRESTONSBURG — U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell will be in Prestonsburg next week, making a pitch for changes he believes are necessary in Washington.

Robert Steurer, communications director in McConnell’s Washington office, said the senator would address a wide variety of topics during his visit.

“He’ll be talking to constituents about the big issues that need to be addressed in Washington, including the need to repeal and replace Obamacare, taxes, jobs, the economy and the 2012 elections,” Steurer said.

At 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, McConnell will speak before an assembly of the Floyd County Chamber of Commerce, Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Paintsville/Johnson County Chamber of Commerce and Letcher County Chamber of Commerce. The event will take place at the Wilkinson-Stumbo Convention Center, at Jenny Wiley State Resort Park.

That afternoon, at 2 p.m., McConnell will also speak to employees of Highlands Regional Medical Center in the hospital’s Meeting Rooms A and B in the Medical Office Building. That event is open to the public.

Can someone please ask the senator why he thinks Hardin Co. is now a part of Appalachia?
