ALLEN - After picking up its first win of the season a week earlier at defending Kentucky Christian School Athletic Association Class AA state champ Harvest Christian in South Portsmouth, Wesley Christian High School took to the road once again to face the Mt. Carmel High School Crusaders. Wesley Christian managed to pull away for a convincing win, defeating Mt. Carmel 85-51.
Led by 6-7 senior center Stephen Goble, Wesley Christian never trailed en route to the win. Goble paced the Riders with a game-high 28 points, 23 rebounds and four blocks.
Junior forward Dishawn Thompson followed, delivering a triple-double with 19 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.
Thomas Hall netted 12 points to go along with nine rebounds, five assists and two blocks for the Riders.
Colton Caldwell was the fourth Wesley Christian scorer to reach double figures. Caldwell contributed 10 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Zach Clark added eight points, Tyler Mosley tossed in five and Shane Salyers added three for the Riders.
With the win, Wesley Christian improved to 2-1.
Wesley Christian is set to return to the court. The Riders will play Somerset Christian Academy, the top-ranked team in the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association, Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Somerset.
