Officials are hosting a press conference luncheon next week, by invitation only, to announce plans about the "most exciting extravaganza ever scheduled to appear in Eastern Kentucky."
A complete lineup of the program will be announced during the press luncheon invitation meeting Tuesday.
The list of expected honored guests include Attorney General Greg Stumbo, judge-executives from Floyd, Johnson, Lawrence, Magoffin, Martin and Pike Counties, mayors from Prestonsburg, Paintsville, Louisa, Salyersville, Inez and Pikeville, and Floyd and Pike County sheriffs.
Judge-Executive Paul Hunt Thompson is the opening guest speaker. He was not available for comment Friday.
Marlow Tackett, the organizer of the East Kentucky State Fair, refused to comment about specifics surrounding the event. Tackett said the information will be released concurrently to all media outlets.
"It took a lot of dignitaries and a whole lot of work to put this together," said assistant director Johnny Sands.
Sands said an advertisement about the fair was included in the national magazine, Amusement Business First this month.
He has been assisting Tackett, working out of an office at Thunder Ridge and another at Marlow's Country Palace, to book entertainment for the event.
Sands said the lineup includes musical entertainment, carnival rides and crafts.
