PRESTONSBURG — With Tuesday being Tax Day, volunteers with the AARP Tax Aide Program celebrated the end of another busy season with luncheon that paid tribute to the accomplishments of one volunteer in particular.

During the luncheon, Burietta Gearheart was presented with a certificate in appreciation of her years of service with the program. Gearheart has been helping provide low-income and elderly clients with free tax preparation and filing for over 30 years.

During the current tax season, AARP Tax Aide Program volunteers helped over 150 people with their taxes. The program offered clients free tax preparation and electronic filing from the Floyd County Library each Tuesday between Feb. 7 and April 17.

Library staffers were also invited to the luncheon, in appreciation of their assistance.
