Students at one Floyd County School were evacuated early Tuesday morning after a bomb threat was received by school officials.
Parents and community members were likely concerned Tuesday when they saw students from James D. Adams Middle School in Prestonsburg being evacuated from the building in the early morning hours. According to Prestonsburg Police Det. Brian Hall, the students were evacuated due to a bomb threat.
According to Hall, the school did receive a threat and did evacuate the building because of the threat. The threat was later traced back to two juveniles who were arrested. Hall says both juveniles were transported to Breathitt County Juvenile Detention facility and will each face the full extent of the law in the matter.
Floyd County Schools Supt. Henry Webb says that the school followed all of their safety protocols to the letter, and notified authorities immediately.
Classes returned to normal at the school following the incident.
