PRESTONSBURG — An arrest warrant has been issued for a man who pleaded guilty to drunk driving last week, after crashing his truck into a Prestonsburg home.

According to a criminal complaint filed May 7 in Floyd District Court, Travis Lee Goble, 22, of Cow Creek, has been charged additionally with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief and attempting to leave the scene of an accident.

Goble was involved in a DUI accident last week when the truck he was driving careened off of South Lake Drive and plowed through the wall of the home of Ralph and Ann Davis.

The Davises told Times staff last week that they were sitting in their living room when the vehicle crashed through the wall. Prestonsburg Fire Chief Bobby Carpenter said, “Had that vehicle been five feet to the left, it may have run over Ann where she was sitting.”

Ralph Davis said that after crashing through the wall, Goble attempted to back up and leave, further damaging their property.

After the accident, EMS units helped Ralph and Ann Davis out of the house, due to the significant damage to the structure. Carpenter told Times staff that the home was not condemned, but was deemed unfit for human occupancy due to the structural integrity being compromised.

Prestonsburg Police officers arrested Goble at the scene and charged him with driving under the influence (first offense), failure to maintain required insurance, and failure to wear a seatbelt. When questioned by Times Staff about the omission of charges related to the damage to the Davises’ property and potential injury to their persons, Assistant Chief Brian Hall said that there would be no other charges forthcoming, and that any restitution sought by the Davises would be a civil matter.

Goble pleaded guilty to the charges facing him last week and was sentenced to $1,000 in fines and loss of his driver’s license for 90 days. He was also ordered to attend ADE classes.

First-degree wanton endangerment and criminal mischief are both class D felonies. Leaving the scene of an accident is a class A misdemeanor.
