PRESTONSBURG – The Prestonsburg Lady Blackcats are 2-0 following back-to-back wins Tuesday-Wednesday.

Prestonsburg, under the guidance of head coach Kristal Allen, defeated 14th Region member Perry County Central and 15th Region counterpart Magoffin County earlier in the week.

The Lady Blackcats topped Perry County Central 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-8) in a season-opener on Monday. Prestonsburg secured an early lead in each game, forcing the Lady Commodores to play from behind.

Remaining in the win column one day later, Prestonsburg blanked familiar 15th Region rival Magoffin County 3-0 (25.13, 25-15, 25-15).

Prestonsburg, which competes with 15th Region powerhouse Allen Central, Betsy Layne and South Floyd in the 58th District/Floyd County Conference, compiled an 8-17 record in 2014.

The Lady Blackcats were visiting Shelby Valley on Thursday. Results from the Prestonsburg-Shelby Valley match were unavailable at press time.

Much-improved Prestonsburg is slated to host South Floyd for a 58th District/Floyd County Conference match on Monday, Aug. 24.

The Lady Blackcats are slated to visit Knott County Central on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Prestonsburg’s remaining regular-season schedule will be made up of matches versus East Ridge, Sheldon Clark, Betsy Layne, Allen Central, Paintsville, Lawrence County, Phelps, Jenkins, Belfry, Pike County Central, Johnson Central, Rowan County and Sheldon Clark.
