PIKEVILLE – Three late, defensive breakdowns led to Ohio Christian breaking open a 1-1 tie for a 4-1 win against the University of Pikeville men’s soccer team on Saturday at the Bob Amos Complex.
Alex Marstiller started the run with goals in the 77th and 78th minutes, while Ian Swingle added the final goal in the 84th to put the game away.
Prior to that, there was only one goal scored in the first half as Marstiller got behind UPIKE keeper Tyler Holland for the uncontested score in the 34th minute. It only took the Bears six minutes into the second half to even things up when Daniel Olaniran’s shot was saved, then Hayden McCloud finished on the rebound.
Ohio Christian controlled the match in shots with a 27-6 advantage, including a 14-4 lead in shots on goal. Holland finished with 10 saves and OCU’s Roberto Verela collected three saves in 85 minutes.
Olaniran and Jerry Okoro paced UPIKE with two shots each, while Marstiller led the match with 11.
