EASTERN – The South Floyd Middle School A-Team captured this year’s Right Beaver Classic tournament title in late-August, pulling away to beat Allen Central Middle School 45-28 in the championship game.
South Floyd defeated Stumbo in the opening round of the Allen Central Middle School-hosted girls’ basketball tournament. Winning to advance to the title tilt, South Floyd topped Adams in the semifinals.
Katie Moore scored a game-high 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead South Floyd over Allen Central in the championship game of the tournament.
Accompanying Moore in double figures in the South Floyd scoring column, Kennedy Blevins netted 12 points. In addition to her dozen points, Blevins added eight rebounds for the Lady Raiders in the victory.
Rounding out the South Floyd scoring, Brook Stumbo and Emily Branham added six and five points, respectively.
Skyler Williamson led South Floyd inside, securing a game-high 10 rebounds. Williamson helped South Floyd push out to a double digit lead in various quarters
Branham chipped in five rebounds for South Floyd in the winning effort.
The South Floyd Middle School girls’ basketball program has won multiple tournament and county titles over the last three years.
