The Blackcats got into the win column after falling to Pikeville in a season-opener. Familiar foe Pikeville pulled away to beat the Blackcats 43-6 in a season-opener.
“We got better from week one and cut down on mental errors,” Prestonsburg Coach John DeRossett said, following his team’s victory over Sheldon Clark. “The offensive line played really well and we are starting to develop an identity. Hopefully we will get better each week.”
The Blackcats will host Breathitt County on Friday, Sept. 4. Breathitt County is 0-1 following a loss to visiting Perry County Central in its season-opener one week ago.
Longtime rivals, Prestonsburg and Breathitt County didn’t meet during the 2014 season. Along with Breathitt County, Prestonsburg’s remaining regular-season schedule includes Hazard, Shelby Valley, East Ridge, Leslie County, Allen Central, Betsy Layne and Lawrence County.
Kickoff for the Prestonsburg-Breathitt County football game is set for 7:30 p.m. at Josh Francis Field/Blackcat Stadium.
