PRESTONSBURG – After being offered a scholarship during a camp on Saturday, Prestonsburg High School senior football player Dalton Frasure committed Austin Peay State University Monday.
Frasure ranks as one of the state’s top high school football players. During his junior season in 2014, Frasure rushed 245 times for 1,614 yards and 20 touchdowns. Frasure led the Blackcats in rushing, averaging 124 rushing yards and 1.5 touchdowns per game.
A versatile offensive player, Frasure hauled in 13 pass receptions for 250 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, Frasure registered 33 total tackles, 19 of which were solo stops.
As a sophomore in 2013, Frasure rushed 209 times for 1,240 yards and 22 touchdowns. Frasure paced Prestonsburg in rushing and ranked second in receiving during his sophomore campaign, reeling in 48 receptions for 537 yards and four touchdowns.
As a freshman in 2012, Frasure rushed 88 times for 605 yards and eight touchdowns. Proving to be a productive young player, Frasure grabbed 16 catches for 251 yards and two scores during his debut season.
In late-May, Frasure attended The Opening Columbus, a recruiting event. He is expected to play H-back/tight end in college.
Austin Peay competes in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), which also features Jacksonville State, Eastern Kentucky UT Martin, Eastern Illinois, Tennessee Tech, Tennessee State, Southeast Missouri and Murray State.
The Governors are under the direction of head coach Kirby Gannon. Austin Peay ended the 2014 season 1-7 in the OVC and 1-11 overall.
The Governors’ 2015 non-conference schedule will include games versus Mercer, Southern Mississippi and Vanderbilt.
