Lady Blackcats fall to Johnson Central, suffer first loss

PAINTSVILLE – The Prestonsburg Lady Blackcats suffered their first loss in the 2015 season on Thursday as host Johnson Central pulled out a hard-fought 3-2 win.

With the win, Johnson Central improved to 5-1-0.

Johnson Central slipped to 4-1-1 with the loss.

Bekah Preston paced Johnson Central with two goals. Accompanying Preston in the Johnson Central scoring column, Rachel Zuidema added one goal for the Lady Eagles.

Preston and Molly Davis each had one assist for Johnson Central in the victory.

Carly Burchett and Jackie Kidd scored one goal apiece for Prestonsburg in the short effort.

Cassandra Richie provided an assist on one of Prestonsburg’s two goals.

Prestonsburg is scheduled to host Johnson Central in another game on Sept. 24.

After falling to Johnson Central, Prestonsburg battled to a 2-2 tie with Rowan County on Saturday. The tie left Prestonsburg with a 4-1-2 record.

Prestonsburg is scheduled to face Shelby Valley in the 15th Region All “A” Classic on Wednesday. The Lady Blackcats have additional regular-season games remaining versus Paintsville, Pikeville, Belfry, Lawrence County, Letcher County Central, Johnson Central, Sheldon Clark and Hazard.
