ALLEN – Kinzer Motorsports headed to 201 Speedway in neighboring Johnson County and Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City September 3-4 for lucrative races sanctioned by both the Spring Nationals Series and Southern Nationals Bonus Series. On Thursday, Sept. 3 at 201, Brandon Kinzer started at the tail of April’s rain-postponed Spring Nationals main event, which boasted a $4,000 payday. Unfortunately for the Allen-based raceteam, Kinzer was struck in the helmet by a large rock during the race and retired in the 14th finishing position. The team then opted to load up and not compete in the $3,000-to-win Southern Nationals Bonus Series program. Fellow longtime driver Jackie Boggs won the feature race at the Sitka track.
At Ponderosa Speedway on Friday night, the Bonus Series presided, paying $3,000 to the winner. Kinzer ran fourth in his heat race, which lined him up starting the 30-lap main event from the outside of the fifth row. At the end of the race, the Allen ace found himself right where he started – in the tenth spot. Complete results from each of the can be found online at www.southernnationalsseries.com.
