Blackcats drop home game to Panthers

PRESTONSBURG – Visiting Pikeville doubled up Prestonsburg 4-2 in a boys’ high school soccer game at StoneCrest on Thursday.

With the win, Pikeville improved to 5-5.

Following the loss, Prestonsburg dropped to 5-5.

Denton Heffington paced Pikeville with two goals.

Accompanying Heffington in the Pikeville scoring column, Austin Ball and Connor Risner added one goal apiece for the Panthers.

In addition to his one goal, Connor Risner contributed two assists for Pikeville in the victory.

Ball added one assist for the Panthers.

Dean Andler and Dustin Blair scored one goal apiece for Prestonsburg in the setback.

Nicholas Caudill provided an assist on one of Prestonsburg’s two goals.

The Prestonsburg and Pikeville boys’ soccer teams aren’t scheduled to meet again this season.

In girls’ high school soccer, Prestonsburg topped Pikeville 6-1.

In another boys’ high school soccer game, host Belfry pulled away to beat Prestonsburg 11-1 on Saturday.

The Blackats slipped to 5-6 with the loss to Belfry.
