PRESTONBSBURG – The Prestonsburg-East Ridge football game scheduled for Friday has been moved to Thursday. Prestonsburg head coach John DeRossett said the move was made at East Ridge’s request because of fall break.
The Blackcats and Warriors are set to meet in a Class 2A, District 8 matchup. East Ridge is a newcomer to Class 2A, District 8.
Following a loss to Shelby Valley, Prestonsburg will bring a 2-3 overall record and an 0-1 mark into the game. Shelby Valley outlasted the Blackcats 12-7 on Friday.
East Ridge is 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the district after outlasting Allen Central 26-24 in its last outing.
Through five games, opponents have edged the Blackcats 110-105 in the scoring column.
East Ridge has managed to outscore its opponents 170-145 through a five-game stretch.
One-time familiar foes, Prestonsburg and East Ridge did not meet during the 2014 season. East Ridge didn’t compete in a district in the 2014 season. Showing improvement throughout the 2014 season, East Ridge concluded the non-district campaign 5-5.
Kickoff for the Prestonsburg-East Ridge football game is set for 7:30 p.m. at Josh Francis Field/Blackcat Stadium.
