MARIETTA, Ohio – The University of Pikeville women’s golf team took fourth place out of 15 teams in the Ohio Valley University Fall Classic on Monday. The event, held at Marietta Country Club, featured teams from NCAA Division II .
The Bears shot 681 (348-333) as a team and were led by Brittany Brophy, who tied for fifth place overall with 161 strokes (81-80). Other top finishers for UPIKE included Ashley Veach, who tied for 22nd with a 173 (89-84) and Bethany Jervis, who also tied for 22nd (87-86).
Christen Cropper tied for 24th place after carding a 174 (91-83). Lauren Vice finished 31st with a 176 (87-89) and Ayla Rhinesmith tied for 36th with a 179 (91-88).
Millersville, which won the tournament with 651 (328-323) total strokes, also had the top two individual finishers. Shannon Weber and Danielle Greene both finished with 157s for the Millersville women’s golf team.
Kutztown (671) and West Chester (677) rounded out the top three and Charleston finished just behind UPIKE at 685 (352-333).
UPIKE was competing in the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament at the Elks Country Club in Portsmouth, Ohio at press time.
