PIKEVILLE – The University of Pikeville volleyball team, led by Amari Eadie with seven kills, rolled past visiting Alice Lloyd College 3-0 at UPIKE Gym on Tuesday.
With the win, Pikeville improved to 10-12.
Remaining winless, Alice Lloyd slipped to 0-8 with the loss.
Alice Lloyd managed to score just three points in the first set, which is the lowest total allowed in recorded program history. Pikeville ultimately won 25-3, 25-16, 25-17.
Service aces were the story of the match as the Bears hit 23 of them, combined with 14 service errors from Alice Lloyd that made things a lot easier for UPIKE to earn the win.
Eadie was backed up by Connor Cook and Kaitlyn Welsh with five kills each, while Cassidy Tackett chipped in with four. The Bears hit .269 as a team, including a massive .667 showing in the opening set. Alice Lloyd hit a combined -.094 as Sarrah Huber paced it with just two kills.
Sydney Hall paced Pikeville with 10 aces. Aiding the Pikeville attack, Savanna Zakman dished out 15 assists in the quick match.
Rachel Murphy delivered seven digs and Tackett was the defensive leader at the net with two solo blocks.
Set to return to the court for a Mid-South Conference (MSC) match, Pikeville is slated to play on the road at Life in Marietta, Ga. on Friday.
