LOUISA – The Tug Valley Bass Anglers fishing club held its eighth tournament of the 2015 season on Yatesville Lake on Sunday. A total of 31 anglers competed in the event. Veteran angler Kevin Runyon won the tournament.
Yatesville Lake was at normal pool with a water temperature around 65 degrees.
Weather for the tournament was good with mostly sunny skies and an air temperature in the 70s.
It was the first day after a fall cold front, but it didn’t seem to bother the fish. There was several good fish caught but it was a little slow at times. Most of the keeper fish were caught in the creeks from 1 to 5 foot of water.
The main pattern for this tournament was to fish top water first thing in the morning, then after the sun came out, slow down and fish tight to cover with soft plastics, spinnerbaits and crankbaits.
The top finishers in the tournament were as follows: 1st – Kevin Runyon (5 fish), 13.97 lbs.; 2nd – Lynn Fields (3 fish) 8.52 lbs.; 3rd – Lacy Edmiston (1 fish) 4.04 lbs.; 4th – MO (2 fish) 3.90 lbs.; 5th – Don Taylor (1 fish), 3.82 lbs.; 6th – Tommy Hopkins (2 fish), 3.72 lbs.; 6th – Rod Varney (1 fish), 3.72 lbs.; 8th — Bryan Fields (1 fish), 3.48 lbs.; 9th – Kevin Marcum (1 fish), 3.06 lbs.;
