PRESTONSBURG – The Prestonsburg Lady Blackcats doubled up the Belfry Lady Pirates 6-3 in a girls’ high school soccer regular-season finale at StoneCrest Sportspark on Thursday.
With the win, host Prestonsburg improved to 12-5-2.
Belfry dropped to 8-9-1 with the loss.
Jackie Kidd led Prestonsburg to the win. Kidd registered a hat trick, scoring three goals and also dealing out one assist for the Lady Blackcats.
Following Kidd offensively for Prestonsburg, Hannah Little netted two goals and distributed a pair of assists.
Accompanying Kidd and Little in the Lady Blackcat scoring column, Christin Mitchell chipped in one goal. In addition to her one goal, Mitchell provided one assist for the Lady Blackcats.
Defensively for Prestonsburg, goalkeeper Maddy Ousley limited visiting Belfry to three goals.
Megan Lambert, Kaley Long and Samantha Smith scored one goal each for the Lady Pirates in the lopsided loss.
Annie Facemyre provided an assist on one of Belfry’s three goals.
The Lady Pirates struggled defensively in each half. Belfry goalkeeper allowed all six Prestonsburg goals in the non-district match.
Familiar 15th Region rivals, Prestonsburg and Belfry met for the first time in the 2015 season.
Prestonsburg, Belfry and soccer teams from throughout the 15th Region are competing in district tournaments this week.
