BARDSTOWN – For the second time this fall, the University of Pikeville women’s golf team captured a win, taking the St. Catharine Fall Tournament championship by 19 strokes at the Bardstown Country Club at Maywood on Tuesday.
The Bears tallied 637 (314-323) total strokes to earn first place, followed by Asbury in second with 656 (326-330) and Midway rounded out the top three with a score of 659 (317-342).
Ayla Rhinesmith led the way for the Bears, finishing second overall after carding a 151 (72-79). The first-round 72 is the lowest score in program history, leading to another school record with a team score of 314 on the opening day.
Brittany Brophy and Lauren Vice also made the all-tournament team with tied for fourth and sixth-place finishes, respectively. Brophy carded a 159 (79-80) and Vice brought in a 160 (80-80).
Other scores for UPIKE include a 163 (83-80) for Christen Cropper to finish tied for eighth, a 165 (81-84) for Bethany Jervis to take 11th and Ashley Veach with a 171 (82-89) to finish 15th.
Midway’s Kathryn Lawler edged Rhinesmith for the individual title, carding a 150 with rounds of 75 on both days.
