PRESTONSBURG – The Prestonsburg boys’ soccer team won its regular-season finale, defeating visiting Powell County 5-0 at StoneCrest Sportspark on Thursday, Oct. 8.
With the win, Prestonsburg improved to 10-8-0.
Powell County slipped to 6-10-0 with the loss.
Leading Prestonsburg to the win, Nicholas Caudill scored two goals and distributed one assist. Dustin Blair and Dean Adler accompanied Caudill in the Blackcat scoring scoring column.
Aiding the Prestonsburg offensive effort, Zach Skaggs added two assists for the Blackcats.
The Blackcats excelled defensively throughout the regular-season finale. Leading the Prestonsburg defensive effort, goalkeeper Dalton Trusty held Powell County scoreless.
The Prestonsburg and Powell County boys’ soccer teams met for the second time in the 2015 season. In an early-season game in Stanton on Aug. 20, Prestonsburg edged Powell County 3-2.
Following the regular-season finale versus Powell County, Prestonsburg turned its collective focus to the 57th District Boys’ Soccer Tournament.
