INEZ – After edging Johnson Central 2-1 to win the 57th District championship, Prestonsburg pulled off another thrilling win in the semifinals of the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament. The Lady Blackcats edged Belfry 1-0 in overtime in the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament at Sheldon Clark on Monday.
With the win, Prestonsburg improved to 15-6-2 and advanced to the 15th Region championship game.
Belfry ended its season 8-10-2 with the loss.
Prestonsburg, under the direction of first-year head coach Paul Burchett, posted its fourth straight win.
The Lady Blackcats thrived offensively and defensively throughout the postseason match.
Hannah Little scored Prestonsburg’s only goal off an assist from Jackie Kidd.
Excelling defensively, Prestonsburg goalkeeper Maddy Ousley held Belfry scoreless.
In the other game played in the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament on Monday, Johnson Central defeated Lawrence County 3-1. More on the Johnson Central-Lawrence County girls’ soccer game follows.

Bekah Preston scored two goals for the Lady Eagles in the win. Accompanying Preston in the Johnson Central scoring column, Haley Burchett added one goal.
Aiding the Johnson Central offensive effort, Molly Davis provided one assist.
Leading Johnson Central (15-3-1) defensively, goalkeeper Alyssa Pack limited Lawrence County (17-5-1) to only one goal.
Kaytlyn Bowens scored Lawrence County’s only goal off an assist from Alice Hudson in the season-ending loss.
