EASTERN – Tournament host Allen Central and Betsy Layne prevailed in the semifinals of the 58th District Volleyball Tournament at J.E. Campbell Arena on Tuesday.
In the opening match of the district tournament, host Allen Central dominated, shutting out South Floyd 3-0, winning 25-7, 25-11, 25-10.
Allen Central, which has captured four straight 15th Region titles, pulled away to win the district tournament match convincingly.
With the win, Allen Central improved to 28-5.
South Floyd ended its season 14-12 with the loss.
In the nightcap, Betsy Layne beat Prestonsburg 3-1, prevailing 25-12, 25-19, 22-25, 25-17.
Betsy Layne improved to 28-7 with the win.
With the loss, Prestonsburg concluded its latest campaign 14-14.
Allen Central was facing Betsy Layne in the 58th District championship match at press time on Thursday.
Both Allen Central and Betsy Layne have advanced to the 15th Region Volleyball Tournament.
