BOWLING GREEN – After round one at the Bowling Green Country Club, both the University of Pikeville men’s and women’s golf teams were in fifth place at the Mid-South Conference Fall Roundup.
The Pikeville men were in fifth place out of nine teams after carding a 310. Kelly Porter was the leading individual with a 75, putting him in a tie for 11th overall. Tyler Smith was next with a 76.
Saulomon Lanigan shot 79 and Will Boyd carded an 80 for the Bears.
On the women’s side, Pikeville was fifth out of 10 teams with a 338, led by Bethany Jervis, who was tied for eighth place overall after shooting an 80 over the first 18 holes. Ayla Rhinesmith and Lauren Vice were tied for 15th after bringing in a pair of 84s to the clubhouse.
The men’s team leaders were Lindsey Wilson with a 292, Cumberland (Tenn.) in second with a 296 and Cumberlands rounding out the top three with 300 strokes.
Cumberlands led the women’s field with a 305, Campbellsville was second at 318 and Lindsey Wilson was third with a 335.
The final round of the roundup was scheduled to be played out Tuesday morning in Bowling Green. Final round results from the tournament were unavailable at press time.
