INEZ – The Prestonsburg Lady Blackcats finished runner-up to the Sheldon Clark Lady Cardinals in the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament at Sheldon Clark on Wednesday. After suffering a heartbreaking loss to Prestonsburg in the 57th District Girls’ Soccer Tournament championship game, Johnson Central pulled blanked the Lady Blackcats 6-0 in the 15th Region championship game.
With the win, Johnson Central improved to 16-3-1 and advanced to the Girls’ Soccer State Tournament.
Prestonsburg ended its season 15-6-2 with the loss.
Molly Davis led Johnson Central with three goals and two assists.
Directly behind Davis in the Johnson Central scoring column, Bekah Preston netted two goals.
Rounding out the Johnson Central scoring, Zoe Daniels contributed one goal.
Mattia Goble added a pair of assists for Johnson Central in the convincing victory.
Defensively for Johnson Central, goalkeeper Alyssa Pack kept 57th District counterpart Prestonsburg scoreless.
Earlier in the month, Prestonsburg edged Johnson Central 2-1 to capture the 57th District title.
