UPIKE golf teams finish fifth at MSC Roundup

BOWLING GREEN – Inclement weather forced the final round of the Mid-South Conference Fall Roundup to be canceled at Bowling Green Country Club on Tuesday. It was decided that the results from the first 18 holes would stand as the official tournament results.

Through Monday’s first round, both the University of Pikeville men’s and women’s golf teams finished in fifth place.

The UPIKE men took fifth place out of nine teams after carding a 310. Kelly Porter led the team with a 75, putting him in a tie for 11th overall. Tyler Smith is next with a 76, Saulomon Lanigan shot 79 and Will Boyd carded an 80.

On the women’s side, UPIKE finished fifth out of 10 with a 338, led by Bethany Jervis who tied for eighth place overall after shooting an 80 over the first 18 holes. Ayla Rhinesmith and Lauren Vice tied for 15th after bringing in a pair of 84’s.

Lindsey Wilson won the men’s event with a 292, Cumberland (Tenn.) is second with a 296 and Cumberlands rounded out the top three with 300 strokes.

Cumberlands won the women’s field with a 305, Campbellsville took second at 318 and Lindsey Wilson finished third with a 335.
