Ladycats shut out Paintsville, move on to region finals

ROBINSON CREEK – After upending 59th District champion Pikeville in the first round, Betsy Layne shut out 57th District champion Paintsville 3-0 in the semifinals of the 15th Region Volleyball Tournament at Shelby Valley on Wednesday.

With the win, Betsy Layne, the runner-up out of the 58th District, improved to 31-5 and advanced to the 15th Region championship match,

Paintsville concluded its season 24-8.

The Lady Cats, under the guidance of head coach Krissy Crase, outlasted Paintsville 36-34 in the third game of the match.

Betsy Layne didn’t face as much resistance from Paintsville earlier in the match, prevailing 24-14, 25-16 in the first two games.

The Lady Cats advanced to meet Allen Central in the 15th Region championship match on Thursday night. Results from the 15th Region championship match were unavailable at press time.
