BETSY LAYNE – Prestonsburg earned another Class 2A, District 8 win on the road, blanking host Betsy Layne 48-0 in a late-regular-season high school football game on Friday night.

With the win, Prestonsburg improved to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in Class 2A, District 8.

Betsy Layne ended its season 0-10 overall and 0-5 in the district with the loss.

The Blackcats moved ahead early in the district game and never faltered, thriving offensively and defensively throughout the matchup. Prestonsburg dominated each half of the district contest.

Leading Prestonsburg to the win, senior Dalton Frasure rushed nine times for 107 yards and four touchdowns. Through nine games in his senior season, Frasure has rushed 192 times for 1,206 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Frasure was one of three Prestonsburg players to rush for a touchdown in the win. Steven Little and Wesley Hager added one rushing touchdown apiece for the Blackcats.

Through the air, Prestonsburg quarterback Bailey Slone completed 4-of-5 passes for 77 yards and one touchdown.

In addition to his rushing score, Hager hauled in a touchdown pass reception for the Blackcats.

Defensively for Prestonsburg, Tyler Adkins recorded two interceptions and seven tackles.

Matt Smith paced the Prestonsburg defense with nine tackles. Dalton Bowe ranked as Prestonsburg’s second-leading tackler, totalling seven stops.

Frasure, Dustin Moore, Jordan Ray and Paul Stanley added six tackles for the Blackcats in the convincing victory.

Betsy Layne was outscored 484-94 through its 10-game regular-season. The Bobcats have turned their collective focus to offseason workouts in preparation for the 2016 season.

Prestonsburg will host non-district foe Hazard for Senior Night on Friday night. Kickoff for the Prestonsburg-Hazard football game is set for 7:30 p.m. Josh Francis Field/Blackcat Stadium.
