PRESTONSBURG – Host Prestonsburg dropped its regular-season finale to visiting Lawrence County on Friday night. Lawrence County defeated Prestonsburg 27-15 in the non-district high school football game.
With the loss, Prestonsburg dropped to 5-5.
Lawrence County improved to 7-3 with the win.
The Bulldogs scored first and never trailed. After the first quarter ended scoreless, Lawrence County scored two touchdowns in the second period to lead 14-0 at halftime.
Extending its lead after intermission, Lawrence County scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to take a commanding 27-0 lead.
Robert Dalton and Austin Chaffin hauled in one touchdown pass reception apiece for Class 3A member Lawrence County in the victory.
Reaching the end zone twice, Timmy Dalton caught a pair of touchdown pass receptions for the Bulldogs.
Lawrence County quarterback Grant Kiser completed 13-of-14 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns.
Cole Mosley was the catalyst on the ground for Lawrence County, rushing 13 times for 70 yards.
Leading Prestonsburg in his final regular-season game in a Blackcat football uniform, senior Dalton Frasure rushed 26 times for 127 yards and both of the Blackcats’ touchdowns.
Prestonsburg has turned its focus to the postseason. The Blackcats will visit Lexington Christian for the opening round of the Class 2A Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl on Friday, Nov. 6.
Kickoff for the highly-anticipated Prestonsburg-Lexington Christian football game is set for 7:30 p.m. in Lexington.
