LEXINGTON – The Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) will hold a press conference on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. to announce the KHSAA Hall of Fame Class of 2016. The Hall of Fame announcement will take place at the KHSAA Offices in Lexington (2280 Executive Drive), and will be streamed live online at khsaa.tv.
The 2016 Hall of Fame banquet will take place Saturday, March 19 in the Bluegrass Ballroom at the Lexington Center in conjunction with the 2016 Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Boys’ Sweet Sixteen. Following the banquet, each inductee of the 2016 Hall of Fame class will be recognized that evening in an on-court ceremony during the semifinals of the boys’ basketball state tournament.
The KHSAA was organized in 1917 and is the agency designated by the Kentucky Department of Education to manage high school athletics in the Commonwealth. The Association is a voluntary nonprofit 501(c)3 organization made up of 277 member schools both public and private. The KHSAA sanctions 43 state championships in 13 sports and 4 sport-activities, licenses and trains over 4,000 officials, provides catastrophic insurance for its more than 70,000 member school student-athletes, as well as overseeing coaching education and sports safety programs.
