EASTERN – The Allen Central High School boys’ basketball program will host its annual panorama on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Allen Central’s preseason boys’ high school basketball event is a Thanksgiving tradition.

In less than one week, area basketball fans will have an opportunity to catch teams in action for the first time.

Teams set to join host Allen Central High School and Allen Central Middle School in this year’s ACHS Panorama are Morgan County Middle School, Betsy Layne High School, Estill County High School, South Floyd High School, Letcher County Central High School, Knott County Central High School, Morgan County High School and Magoffin County High School.

The schedule for the panorama will be as follows (teams are high schools unless otherwise noted): Allen Central Middle vs. Morgan County Middle, 3 p.m.; Betsy Layne vs. Estill County, 4:15 p.m.; South Floyd vs. Letcher County Central, 5:30 p.m.; Knott County Central vs. Morgan County, 6:45 p.m.; Allen Central vs. Magoffin County, 8 p.m.

“We have two locker rooms, so we’re asking all coaches to make sure that their players get all of their things out of the locker room after they get dressed,” Allen Central Coach Brad Short said. “We will have food for all of the players and coaches. I will plan on each team having around 20 people to feed. We will have 10 minute warm-ups and a five-minute halftime. Instead of two 20-minute running halves, we will play a regular game. The only change we will make is seven-minute quarters instead of eight-minute quarters. If there is overtime, we will go to a one-minute overtime and if double overtime, we will go to sudden death. Hopefully this will keep us from running too far over.”
