LOUISVILLE – Through 10 games of bowing over two days, the University of Pikeville women finished in second place out of 15 teams on Sunday at the Striking Knights Classic, hosted by Bellarmine University.
The Bears finished the event with a total pin fall of 9,126 as Lindenwood (Mo.) took top honors with a score of 9,310. Emmanuel rounded out the top three with 8,862 pins and Mid-South Conference-foe Campbellsville was next in line with 8,742.
On the individual side, Fallon Tallman captured the win with 1,307 pins through six games, while her UPIKE teammate KT Simpson was right behind her in second with 1,268.
Christine Johnson was the next Bear in line, taking 42nd place with a score of 981. Lindenwood’s Erin Micheifelder had taken third place with 1,263 pins, five behind Simpson.
Tallman had her best score in the opening game of the classic with a 254, followed by game two’s 236 and a 223 in the third game of the day.
UPIKE’s next tournament will have it heading west, taking part in the Las Vegas Invite on Dec. 17-23 in Las Vegas, Nev., which is a tier-one event.
