Frasure earns district’s top honor

Prestonsburg High School senior Dalton Frasure has been named the Class 2A, District 8 Player of the Year.


PRESTONSBURG – Prestonsburg High School senior Dalton Frasure has been named the Class 2A, District 8 Player of the Year by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association (KFCA).

Frasure, who has committed to Austin Peay State University, rushed 233 times for 1,430 yards and 16 touchdowns during his senior season with the Blackcats. The Prestonsburg senior also hauled in 13 receptions for 224 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Frasure posted 86 total tackles, including 29 solo stops.

Frasure reached the 4,000 yards rushing plateau during his final season. The productive Frasure was a four-year starter for the Blackcats.

Leslie County head coach Eddie Melton was named the Class 2A, District 8 Coach of the Year. Melton guided Leslie County to a 9-3 overall record.

In Class 3A, District 6, longtime Belfry head coach Philip Haywood, a Prestonsburg native, earned the 2015 coach of the year award.

Currently, Frasure is preparing to make a debut in his senior season with the Prestonsburg High School boys’ basketball team.
