PHS Fall Sports Banquet scheduled for Jan. 3

PRESTONSBURG – Prestonsburg High School will hold the PHS Fall Sports Banquet at the Mountain Arts Center (MAC) on Sunday, Jan. 3at 2 p.m. The banquet will feature dozens of Prestonsburg High School student-athletes.

First-year Prestonsburg High School Athletic Director John DeRossett released the date for the fall sports banquet earlier in the week. DeRossett, who is serves as the head coach of the Blackcat football team and ranks as the winningest coach in school history, continues to promote the entire PHS athletic department.

“We’re looking forward to having the fall sports banquet at the MAC,” DeRossett said, earlier in the week. “This will be a great opportunity to honor our student-athletes and teams.”

In the fall, PHS fielded teams in the sports of cheerleading, girls’ cross country, football, boys’ golf, girls’ golf, boys’ soccer and girls’ soccer.

PHS, which will hold a winter-spring media day later in the month, annually competes for district and region titles in multiple sports. The Blackcats and Lady Blackcats compete in the 58th District in several sports. Prestonsburg is a member of Class 2A, District 8 in the sport of football.
