Elder Abuse Awareness 5K Run/Walk held in Prestonsburg

Runners from across Eastern Kentucky competed in the Elder Abuse Awareness 5k Run/Walk in Prestonsburg.

Several veteran runners prevailed in the recent race.

PRESTONSBURG – May is Elder Abuse Awareness Month. The Big Sandy Council on Elder Maltreatment sponsored its first-ever Elder Abuse Awareness 5K Run/Walk in Prestonsburg on May 30, with the assistance of race director Brent Graden. The 5k drew approximately 120 participants. Trophies were awarded to the top 3 male and female runners. Sponsors for the event included Harper OB/GYN, Appalachian Wireless, EKY Racers, Pillersdorf, Derossett & Lane, Mountain Comprehensive Care Center, Highlands Regional Behavioral Health Care, Turning Point Domestic Violence Services, AppalRed Legal Aid, Mountain Manor of Paintsville and Hamilton Enterprises.
