JACKSON – Jackson City notched its first win in the 2015-16 season over the weekend, defeating the visiting Allen Central Rebels 81-57 in a non-district boys’ basketball game on Saturday.
With the win, Jackson City improved to 1-4.
Allen Central dropped to 2-3 with the loss.
Jackson City shot 57.8 percent (26-of-45) from the field. The Tigers fared even better beyond the arc. shooting 64 percent (16-of-25) from 3-point range.
Jackson City shot 68.4 percent (13-of-19) from the free throw line.
Sherman Collins poured in a game-high 30 points to lead Jackson City to the win. Flirting with a double-double, Collins grabbed nine rebounds for the Tigers.
Camron Turner scored 17 points and Austin Caudill added 12 points for Jackson City in the victory.
Allen Central shot 40.7 percent (24-of-59) from the field, finishing 4-of-19 (21.1 percent) from 3-point range.
The Rebels shot 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from the free throw line.
Seth Hall led the Rebels with 12 points. Hall was the only Allen Central player to reach double figures in the scoring column.
Case Caudill, Sam Conley Koby Slone and Bailey Wright chipped in six points apiece and Ethan Smith contributed five points for Allen Central in the loss.
Dylan Caudill and Zach Laton added four points apiece for the Rebels.
Chipping in offensively for Allen Central, Cameron Blevins, Rico Dominguez, Cameron Nelson and Brett Sammons netted two points each.
The Jackson City and Allen Central boys’ basketball teams aren’t scheduled to meet again this season.
