Hopkins named NAIA Football Scholar Athlete

University of Pikeville redshirt junior Jack Hopkins has been named a 2015 Daktronics-NAIA Football Scholar-Athlete.


PIKEVILLE – University of Pikeville redshirt junior Jack Hopkins is a 2015 Daktronics-NAIA Football Scholar-Athlete, national office officials announced on Friday.

In order to be nominated by a school’s sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved at least junior academic status.

Hopkins, a business major, is a native of Brandywine, Md., who finished the 2015 season with a team-best 89 tackles, including 63 solo stops along with two interceptions and a pair of fumble recoveries at safety for the Bears.

Hopkins had his best performance of the season in the 37-33 loss at home against Cumberland, finishing with 14 tackles and an interception that he returned 15 yards.
