UPIKE women’s team places third in Las Vegas Collegiate Shootout

LAS VEGAS – The University of Pikeville women’s bowling team’s trip to Las Vegas ended in style on Tuesday with a third-place finish out of 19 teams in the talent-filled Collegiate Shoot-Out at The Orleans Center.

Led by Shelby Fromm’s eighth-place finish with a 219.5 average, the Bears tallied a total pin fall of 11,053 to finish third. Wichita State (Kan.) won the shoot-out with 12,616 pins and Webber International (Fla.) took second with 11,521.

Fromm nearly pushed herself into all-tournament team honors (top six) with high games of 259 and 247, while Fallon Tallman had a high game of 246 as she finished 15th overall with a 208.3 average.

Jenna Coldiron was next in line in 26th place with a 199.3 average, followed by KT Simpson in 54th place with an average of 213.4.

Four of the six all-tournament team spots went to Wichita State bowlers, led by Dasha Kovalova’s 233.7 average and 1,402 total pin fall.

UPIKE will return to action on Jan. 24 at the Thomas Burris Memorial Classic in Lexington.
