Rebels roll in home game

EASTERN – It didn’t take the Allen Central Rebels long to bounce back from a loss to East Ridge in the 15th Region All “A” Classic. Winning in its next outing after the setbackin the regional event, Allen Central rolled past visiting Piarist School 72-24 at J.E. Campbell Arena on Saturday.

With the win, Allen Central improved to 6-8.

Piarist School dropped to with the loss.

Allen Central dominated former 58th District foe Piarist School throughout the matchup.

The Rebels, under the direction of head coach Brad Short, set the tone early, blanking Piarist 26-0 in the opening quarter.

Controlling the contest in each quarter, Allen Central led 34-8 at halftime and carried a commanding 55-15 lead out of the third period.

Leading Allen Central to the win, Kevin Chaffins scored a team-high 13 points.

Joining Chaffins in double figures, Zach Layton netted 10 points foir the Rebels.

Narrowly missing double figures, Kolby Slone and Cameron Nelson added seven points apiece for Allen Central in the victory.

In all, 10 different Allen Central players provided scoring.

Additional scorers for the Rebels were Sam Conley (eight points), Ethan Smith (seven points), Chase Caudill (seven points), Bonzo Hamilton (five points), Chris Brown (two points) and Cody Haddix (two points).

Skylar Williams led Piarist with a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Williams was the only Piarist player to reach double figures in the scoring column. Riley Howard and Brennan Mullins scored four points apiece and Logan Sparks chipped in three points for the Knights in the lopsided, loss.

Allen Central is scheduled to entertain in a late-season game on Feb. 18.
