EASTERN – Around 24 hours after dropping a 58th District game to Prestonsburg, Allen Central returned to the win column, defeating visiting Jenkins 77-32 in a boys’ high school basketball game at J.E. Campbell Arena on Thursday night.
With the win, Allen Central improved to 7-9.
Jenkins dropped to 1-14 with the loss.
Bret Samons drained four three-pointers and paced Allen Central with a game-high 21 points.
Finishing directly behind Samons in the Allen Central scoring column, Seth Hall added 20 points for the Rebels.
Another productive Allen Central player, Cameron Blevins, added 13 points for the Rebels in the victory.
Jenkins struggled offensively and defensively throughout the prep hoops contest.
Allen Central took control early, outscoring Jenkins 34-11 in the first quarter. The Rebels led 50-19 at halftime and 69-22 at the conclusion of the third quarter.
In all, 10 different Allen Central players provided scoring. Other scorers for the Rebels were Sam Conley (six points), Dylan Caudill (four points), Ethan Smith-Mills (four points), Chris Brown (three points), Chase Caudill (three points), Bailey Wright (two points) and Cameron Nelson (one point).
Caudill led Allen Central inside, claiming eight rebounds for the Rebels.
Justin Phipps paced Jenkins with 16 points. Phipps was the only Jenkins player to reach double figures in the scoring column.
Matthew Jessey scored six points and Dallas Simon added five points for the Cavaliers in the lopsided loss.
Rounding out the Jenkins scoring, Joseph Ratliff and Hunter Adams added three points and two points, respectively.
Allen Central is scheduled to visit Jenkins for a late-season game on Feb. 11.
