LICK CREEK – Allen Central wouldn’t be denied a win in Pike County earlier in the week. The Rebels, under the direction of head coach Brad Short, outlasted host East Ridge 55-54 in a boys’ high school basketball game on Monday.

With the win, Allen Central evened its record to 9-9.

East Ridge dropped to 11-9 with the loss.

The victory allowed the Rebels to enact some revenge. Allen Central had lost to East Ridge during the regional small-school tournament at the East Kentucky Expo Center earlier in the month.

Each 15th Region boys’ basketball team owned multiple leads in the latest meeting.

The Rebels outscored East Ridge 13-10 in the first quarter then led 26-22 at halftime. East Ridge, however, outscored Allen Central 17-190 in the third quarter to lead 39-36 heading into the final period.

But the Rebels finished strong, outscoring East Ridge 19-15 in the final quarter to claim the win.

Cameron Blevins paced Allen Central with a game-high 19 points. Following Blevins in the Rebel scoring column and also reaching double figures, Seth Hall added 10 points.

Narrowly missing double figures, Bailey Wright netted nine points for the Rebels.

Other scorers for Allen Central in the loss were Cameron Nelson (seven points), Bret Samons (four points), Ethan Smith-Mills (four points) and Sam Conley (two points).

Justin Potter paced East Ridge with 19 points, sharing game-high scoring honors with Allen Central’s Blevins. Accompanying Potter in double figures, Michael Conn scored 12 points and Trey Little tossed in 10 points for the Warriors.

Jacob Childers chipped in seven points, Matt Miller added four points and Dawson Clark contributed two points for East Ridge in the short effort.
