MARTIN – Playing on the road, Allen Central topped former 58th District rival Piarist School 65-58 in a 15th Region girls’ basketball matchup on Saturday.
Allen Central improved to 2-9 with the win.
With the loss, Piarist dropped to 1-12.
Following realignment by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA), Piarist now competes in the 59th District.
Hannah Combs and Kacie Poston paced Allen Central with 18 points apiece. Accompanying Combs and Poston in double figures and registering a double-double, Alexandria Samons scored 10 points and grabbed a game-high 22 rebounds for the Lady Rebels.
Savannah Watkins scored eight points and Kelsey Parsons chipped in seven points for Allen Central in the winning effort.
Rounding out the Allen Central scoring and reaching double figures in the scoring column, Hannah Halbert scored four points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Parsons secured nine points, while Combs and Poston chased down four caroms each.
Lauren Wright poured in a game-high 43 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Piarist in the setback. Wright was the only Piarist player to reach double figures in the scoring column.
Katie Howard scored seven points, Ashley Bentley tossed in six points and Taylor Eckle contributed three points for the Lady Knights.
Helping Piarist inside, Bentley grabbed 12 rebounds.
Piarist slipped into the loss column after slipping past host Riverside Christian 47-46 on Thursday (Jan. 14).
