Piarist outlasts Riverside Christian, 47-46

LOST CREEK – The Piarist School girls’ basketball team posted its first win in the 2015-16 season late last week, edging host Riverside Christian 47-46 on Thursday.

Piarist improved to 1-11 with the win.

With the loss, 14th Region member Riverside Christian dropped to 0-12.

Piarist shot 66.7 percent (20-of-30) from the free throw line.

Pacing Piarist in the win, Lauren Wright scored a game-high 37 points and pulled down 15 rebounds for the Lady Knights.

Wright was the only Piarist player to reach double figures in the scoring column. Ashley Bentley and Katie Howard contributed five points apiece for the Lady Knights.

Bentley ranked as Piarist’s second-leading rebounder, securing 10 rebounds.

Struggling offensively, Riverside Christian shot 33.9 percent (20-of-59) from the field. The Lady Rams were 0-for-6 from 3-point range.

Riverside Christian shot 35.3 percent (6-of-17) from the free throw line.

Rose Haddix paced Riverside Christian with 26 points and a game-high 27 rebounds.

Ina-Dale Davidson accompanied Haddix in double figures, adding 10 points for the Lady Rams.

Narrowly missing double figures in the Riverside Christian rebounding column, Jordan Neace grabbed nine rebounds.

Piarist is scheduled to host Riverside Christian on Feb. 13.
