HI HAT – South Floyd knocked off four-time defending 15th Region champion Johnson Central 88-86 in overtime in a non-district boys’ high school basketball game at Raider Arena on Tuesday night.
The determined Raiders edged Johnson Central 11-9 in overtime to earn the victory.
With the win, South Floyd improved to 10-9.
Johnson Central, which led at the conclusion of each quarter in regulation, slipped to 12-9 with the loss.
South Floyd shot 40.9 percent (27-of-66) from the field. The Raiders went 8-of22 (36.4 percent) from 3-point range.
South Floyd shot 70.3 percent (26-of-37) from the free throw line.
Andrew Tackett paced South Floyd with 29 points and nine rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double. Tackett finished 10-of-13 from the free throw line.
Following Tackett in the South Floyd scoring column, Jacob Collins contributed 25 points. Collins drained four 3-point field goals.
Brady Conn delivered a double-double for the Raiders, scoring 14 points and grabbing a game-high 17 rebounds.
Joining his three teammates in double figures, Poppa Trammell added 13 points for the Raiders.
J.R. Tackett rounded out the South Floyd scoring, netting two points.
Johnson Central shot 41.8 percent (33-of-79) from the field. The Golden Eagles finished 10-of-32 (31.3 percent) from 3-point range.
Johnson Central shot 52.6 percent (10-of-19) from the free throw line.
Mason Blair led Johnson Central with a game-high 41 points. Blair drained seven 3-point field goals for the Golden Eagles.
Accompanying Blair in double figures, Cole Crace scored 20 points for Johnson Central in the short effort.
