EASTERN – On a night when Lady Raider Leighann Hall scored her 1,000th career point, South Floyd rolled past host Allen Central 63-20 in a 58th District/Floyd County Conference girls’ basketball game at J.E. Campbell Arena on Wednesday night.
South Floyd shot 35.9 percent (28-of-78) from the field. The Lady Raiders went 2-for-14 (14.3 percent) from 3-point range.
South Floyd shot 50 percent (5-of-10) from the free throw line.
Dominating around the goal, South Floyd claimed 52 total rebounds.
Hall, who ranks as one of the 15tyh Region’s top girls’ basketball players, led three South Floyd scorers in double figures, pacing the Lady Raiders with a game-high 16 points.
Accompanying Hall in double figures for the Lady Raiders, Jesse Tackett tossed in 12 points and Brooke Potter contributed 10 points.
Other scorers for South Floyd in the district win were Katie Moore (five points), Kennedy Blevins (four points), Emily Branham (four points), Sydney Hall (four points), Cheyenne Light (four points), Brooke Stumbo (two points) and Taylor Berger (two points), who pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds for the Lady Raiders.
Allen Central was limited offensively throughout the district game.
Hannah Combs led the Lady Rebels in scoring, posting six points. Kelsey Parsons scored five points, Kacie Poston pushed in four points, Savannah Watkins netted three points and Emily Johnson provided two points for Allen Central in the setback.
Johnson and Alexandria Samons led Allen Central on the glass, grabbing eight rebounds apiece.
