EASTERN – Playing on the road against their nearest rival didn’t phase the South Floyd Raiders. Visiting South Floyd pulled away to defeat Allen Central 74-63 at J.E. Campbell Arena on Wednesday night.
The Raiders, under the direction of head coach Justin Holbrook, shot 38.9 percent (21-of-54) from the field. South Floyd went 8-for-23 (34.8 percent) from 3-point range.
The Raiders shot 75.9 percent (22-of-29) from the free throw line.
Four South Floyd players reached double figures in the scoring column. Leading the Raiders to the win, Andrew Tackett scored 16 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out six assists and recorded five steals. The productive Tackett led the Raiders in points, assists and steals.
Jacob Collins scored 14 points, Poppa Trammell tossed in 11 points and Brady Conn contributed 10 points for the Raiders.
Conn led South Floyd on the glass, securing a game-high eight rebounds.
Cameron Blevins paced Allen Central with a game-high 18 points. Seth Hall scored 15 points and Bailey Wright added 14 points for the Rebels.
Dylan Caudill scored six points and claimed a game-high 10 rebounds for the Rebels.
Other scorers for Allen Central in the loss were Ethan Smith-Mills (five points), Bret Samons (two points) and Cameron Nelson (one point).
In a 58th District girls’ basketball game, South Floyd defeated Allen Central 63-20.
South Floyd is the reigning 58th District boys’ basketball champion.
